Biography

Lars Gustaf Andersson, poet and translator, professor in film and literature at Lund University, Sweden. Teacher and supervisor at School for Creative Writing in Lund. Andersson has published 8 collections of poetry in Swedish, from Under morgonstjärnan (’Under the Morning Star’, 1986) to Den andra världen (’The Other World’, 2023). Individual poems have appeared in English, Spanish, Arabic and Greek. As a scholar he has published several books and a range of articles on topics as Swedish film history, Swedish and international experimental cinema, immigrant filmmaking and intermedial and cultural aspects of film and art. He is co-author of A History of Swedish Experimental Film Culture (2010), Historical Dictionary of Scandinavian Cinema (2012), The Cultural Practice of Immigrant Filmmaking (2019) and Lena Mattsson: The Window Opens to the World (2020). As a translator into Swedish he has among others introduced North American poets Carolyn Forché and Ilya Kaminsky, and together with Forché he has published a selection of the distinguished Swedish poet Lasse Söderberg in English, The Forbidden Door (2022).
