Nefeli Gkatsou

Biography

Nefeli Gkatsou was born and raised in Athens. She studied Pedagogy (2008-2012) at the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens (NKUA). She spent part of her studies at the University of West Bohemia (Pilsen, Czech Republic) and completed an internship at the Higher School of Education of Coimbra (Portugal) as an Erasmus+ scholar. She then received a scholarship from the State Scholarships Foundation for postgraduate (2012-2014) and doctoral (2014-2019) studies in Linguistics at NKUA. In 2021, she graduated with a Master of Business Administration from Vrije University Amsterdam (The Netherlands). In the same year, she completed her Blue Book traineeship at the Directorate-General for Education and Culture of the European Commission in Brussels (Belgium). From 2013 to 2022, she worked as a teacher at Athens College. Since 2019, she has been a member of the Editorial Board of the periodical of Speech and Art, Karyothrafstis. Since 2022, she has been working as a teacher in primary schools under the Ministry of Education and Religious Affairs and, at the same time, is employed as teaching staff in the Master’s Program “Rhetoric, Humanities and Education,” where she delivers a series of lectures in the course “Linguistic Diversity and Figurative Language” and supervises theses. She has published articles, poems, and translations, and has participated as a speaker in national and international conferences. She speaks excellent English, French, Portuguese, and has a working knowledge of Italian.
