Konstantinos Fotiadis, historian and Emeritus Professor at the University of Western Macedonia, was born in the village of Ano Zervohori, Naoussa. He is the son of Pontic refugees. Motivated by his upbringing among first-generation Pontic refugees, he embarked on a lifelong journey dedicated to researching and bringing into light the history of Pontus, his ancestral homeland. Throughout his academic career, he has authored 46 books exploring various facets of Pontus’s history and culture, with a significant focus on the Genocide of the Greeks of Pontus, contributing 24 dedicated books to this crucial chapter of history. Additionally, he has written hundreds of academic articles, published both in Greece and abroad, regarding the history of Pontus and Asia Minor. His scholarly endeavors have garnered widespread recognition and acclaim, with numerous accolades bestowed upon him for his invaluable contributions to the field. The Greek State, Prefectures, Municipalities and the Church, along with esteemed institutions such as various Universities, have honored him for his profound impact on the study of Pontic history and culture. Furthermore, his dedication has been honored by various Pontic associations and Federations of Pontic and Refugee Associations in Greece and abroad.
